The following are some of the new events and programs that were a part of Expo 2009, "Get the Red Carpet Treatment." Flu shots and pneumonia vaccines were provided by the Baltimore County Department of Aging and Maxim Health Services at the Senior Expo and Baby Boomer Expo on October 7 from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. and October 8 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. in the 4-H Building of the Timonium Fairgrounds. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommend a flu shot if you are over 50 or have: - high blood pressure
- an irregular heartbeat
- a history of stroke or heart attack
- a chronic respiratory disorder
- diabetes
- a compromised immune system
- anemia
The shots and vaccines were provided at no cost for Medicare B beneficiaries and Bravo Health members.

Back to Top On Wednesday, October 7, The New Face of Long-Term Care: Challenges and Solutions workshop was held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Vista Room at the Fairgrounds. Professionals working in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, care providers and social workers attended the workshop. The Department of Aging with the Baltimore County Health Department and the Office of Health Care Quality partnered to provide this workshop at no cost to attendees. Emergency and Disaster Preparedness Training was held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, October 8 in the Vista Room. Nursing Home Administrators and Assisted Living Facility Managers or Owners attended the workshop. Back to Top |
